Simple Ways to Spruce Your Yard and Patio
Some might call it summer, but the enlightened know that it's actually patio season once spring has sprung. Getting outside to enjoy your yard and patio is the best part of the weather turning around for the better. The best homes and buildings are the ones with yards or patios that have been tricked out and spruced up to get the most out of them.
At TNT Group Janitorial and Building Solutions, we have a few tricks up our sleeve that we love as ways to make your yard and patio stand out without breaking the bank.

Add a Water Feature
This is a great hack because you can go as wild or conservative as possible. Have room and spare cash for a full waterfall? Awesome! For something more laid back, a small table fountain is the perfect way to add sound and ambiance to a patio. The ambient noise can help dull noise from neighbors, traffic, and construction. Not to mention that studies like this one from the University of Sussex say natural sounds like running water can get rid of stress.
Add a Patio
All this talk of how awesome patios are might be leaving some with yards but no patio feeling left out. Never fear; you can easily build a platform deck which is a freestanding deck that’s not attached to a house. It’s also inexpensive and can be built in just three days. This is a quick and easy way to create a gathering place that can float wherever you want it in your yard (and even go with you when you move house)

Add Container Plants
Not everyone has a green thumb or wishes to plant a full garden, and that's okay. But if you want to bring more of a lush vibe to your patio and backyard, container plants are an easy way to do so. There are lots of different sizes, shapes, and colors of these. You can throw one or two on a table here or there, get a great big accent plant, or group plants of varying sizes and heights together to create accent pieces.
This is also a great hack if you like to move things around periodically because container plants are designed to be able to regroup at a whim.
Brighten Up Your Grass
If your grass looks a little pale and weak, it might not be watered correctly. Many people water their grass frequently for short periods, but this discourages the roots of the grass from growing deeper into the soil. Shallow root systems mean the grass isn't as hardy and needs access to as many nutrients as possible.
Instead, you should water deep enough to penetrate the soil 4 to 6 inches deep. How long you need to water will vary depending on conditions and soil type. Try watering for 30 minutes, then prying up a wedge of soil to see how far the water has gone. Once you hit the target, remember how long it took. Next time you can use a water timer to get the right amount.
Heavy soils should be watered less often because they hold onto water better. Sandy soils dry out faster, so they need watering more frequently.

Live an Elevated Life
Your yard and patio are the perfect extension to your home or building, giving you some extra square footage to enjoy your home outside. There’s nothing better on a warm summer’s eve than hanging out in the coolest place around, your very own patio that’s been elevated to the next step up.
At TNT Group Janitorial and Building Solutions, we believe in elevated spaces that let you live your best life. For more information on how we can help elevate your space to the next level, visit our website.
